AI features shipped across 12 networks. Not one of them decides, approves or settles a number you get paid on

Everyone pointed it at reporting

40 distinct AI features found across Awin, impact.com, Rakuten Advertising, CJ, Partnerize, Tradedoubler, Admitad, Webgains, Optimise Media, Skimlinks, PartnerStack and Everflow.

15 of the 40 are partner discovery - in every case a ranking model over the vendor's own partner database. Awin has had one since February 2022, which predates the AI framing entirely.

14 are reporting and AI-visibility measurement - natural language summaries of reports that already existed, plus 8 separate products launched since October 2025 that count how often a large language model mentions your brand.

6 are workflow automation, of which only 2 are verifiably live with a genuine mechanism.

The remaining 5 are detection and monitoring, 3 of them, and content generation, 2.

0% touches settlement.

The entire visible AI investment of the sector has gone into 2 things: finding partners, and measuring how often a language model mentions your brand. The money layer is untouched.

What I could not establish

  • Whether unshipped internal tooling exists at any of these companies.
  • Whether any feature classified from a vendor announcement is actually generally available. Where availability was unclear it was recorded as unverified rather than shipped.

Sources

  1. Scale Equation, AI feature scan across 12 affiliate networks and platforms, 19 August 2026Read at source 19 August 2026

The 40 features and the 6 categories. Every feature was classified from the vendor's own published material, and where general availability could not be established it was recorded as unverified rather than shipped. The counts are: discovery and matching 15, reporting and insight 14, workflow automation 6, detection and monitoring 3, content generation 2, settlement and reconciliation 0. The 12 companies scanned are listed below.

  2. Awin, New tool automates partner discovery for advertisersRead at source 29 August 2026

The partner discovery tool, bylined 9 February 2022 and described on the page as an AI-driven publisher recommendation solution built using machine learning logic. This is the source for the claim that it predates the AI framing.

  3. impact.com Integrations Hub, Brand MCP ToolsRead at source 28 August 2026

The brand-side toolset, and that none of it can act on settlement - the finance tools read invoices and overdue amounts and can change neither.

  4. Rakuten Advertising, Rakuten Advertising Launches Mirai, Affiliate Marketing's First Advanced AI Optimization AgentRead at source 29 August 2026

Launched 6 May 2026. The release says Mirai analyses business objectives to recommend optimal commission structures, and that offer creation and management is available today. It recommends terms. It does not set them.

  5. CJ, AI Visibility and Optimization solution materialRead at source 19 August 2026

The AI-visibility measurement products in the reporting category.

  6. Partnerize, VantagePoint, the Konnecto acquisition and the Lighthouse ProgramRead at source 19 August 2026

Two of the 8 AI-visibility launches, and the only attempt found anywhere to connect AI-mediated influence to a payment. Partnerize underwrites the commissions itself during that pilot, which is why it is classified as a pilot rather than a settlement product.

  7. Tradedoubler, Emna.aiRead at source 19 August 2026

One waitlisted product and a strategy deck. Nothing generally available.

  8. Admitad, published product materialRead at source 19 August 2026

Nothing shipped in AI at the time of the scan.

  9. Webgains, product updates and knowledge hubRead at source 19 August 2026

Real commission-rule automation that the company explicitly does not market as AI. Counted in workflow automation, and the vendor is being straight about it.

  10. Optimise Media, product release materialRead at source 19 August 2026

One shipped feature in the discovery category.

  11. Skimlinks, published product materialRead at source 19 August 2026

Link rewriting and merchant matching at scale, genuinely automated and never rebranded as AI. Nothing shipped in AI at the time of the scan.

  12. PartnerStack, AI platform and Content MarketplaceRead at source 19 August 2026

Two of the 8 AI-visibility launches.

  13. Everflow, MCP server documentation and the Everflow AI PlaybookRead at source 19 August 2026

Read-only by architecture, and no settlement capability.

Every source carries the date it was read. Where there is no link the document is held on file and cited by publisher and title.

My read

Discovery and reporting carry no financial consequence. Settlement does. Every vendor has put its AI where a mistake costs nothing, which is a sensible place to start and a difficult place to stay. The interesting question is not why nobody has gone further, it is what would have to be true before somebody could.

What I'd do with this

Ask your network which of their AI features touch a number you get paid on. If the answer is none, that is not a criticism of them. It is a map of what you are still doing yourself.
